John Sebestyen (b. July 31, 1942; d. January 26, 2011) was the owner of The Bomber restaurant in Ypsilanti.

Age 68, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011. He was born July 31, 1942 in Chicago, IL, the son of John and Margaret (Moran) Sebestyan. He graduated from Bangor High School in Bangor, MI and then attended Ferris State College from 1961-65. John served in the U.S. Army from 1966-68. He was also a Vietnam Veteran, 1967-68, serving with the 589th Engineer Battalion, 18th Engineer Brigade in Vietnam. John entered the insurance business in 1968. He was a member of Central Life Assurance Company for many years. He was also a member of Central Life Agents Advisory Council for three years. John served all offices of the Washtenaw Life Underwriters Association, concluding as president in 1979 and 1980. He served all offices of the MI State Life Underwriters Association and was president from 1990-91. John owned the Merriman Insurance Agency in Plymouth, MI from 1982-87, serving as CEO and president. He was a participant in the ownership of George's Huron Inn with George and Margaret Beau-dette from 1987-92 and was a current co-owner of the Bomber Restaurant in Ypsilanti. He was an avid University of MI football fan, holding season tickets for over 32 yrs. Survivors include: his lifetime companion, Johanna McCoy; two sons, John and Joe (Jen); two daughters, Laurie (Jim) Frye and Lyn (Vinny) Bada-lamente; four grandchildren, Elliot Hughes and Jacob, Zachary and Olivia Sebestyen; one brother, Andrew; and his dog, Mariah. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepbrother, George Beaudette. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a memorial gathering 4-7pm Monday, January 31 2011 at Frenchies/Sidetrack.
