The Joyce Ivy Foundation is an Ann Arbor-based Foundation dedicated to promoting expanded higher education opportunities for young women in Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, North Dakota and throughout the Midwest.

Its primary programs focus on (1) providing summer scholarships to highly selective colleges and universities for high-potential high school sophomores and juniors, and also mentoring these scholarship students as they complete their transition from high school to college, and (2) hosting College Admissions Symposiums for both high school guidance counselors and high school sophomores and juniors.

Applications for Joyce Ivy Foundation scholarships for summer academic study may be submitted between January 1 and mid-March of each year. Applications can be submitted online through the Joyce Ivy Foundation website.

The Joyce Ivy Foundation also hosts The Joyce Ivy Foundation College Admissions Symposiums, which features sessions with admissions officers from Ivy League and other selective colleges. In 2013, this Symposium will be hosted in mid-May in Michigan. Registration for the Symposium can be done beginning November 1, 2012 through the Joyce Ivy Foundation website at www.joyceivyfoundation.org

The Foundation particularly seeks and encourages volunteer support of its activities and mission.

"The caliber of competition for these scholarships continues to escalate," said Carrie Hadler, a director of The Joyce Ivy Foundation. "This year's 2008 applicant pool presented a collective 3.95 GPA while also balancing multiple outside interests. Clearly these exceptional young women have demonstrated not only the ability to excel in rigorous academic environments but, just as importantly, the desire and drive to aggressively pursue challenging undergraduate experiences."
