If you see the feature film "Jumper" strictly for the purposes of Ann Arbor-spotting, you'll experience almost instant gratification. The movie opens today. Last year, a crew filmed for two days at Gallup Park and Huron High School, and director Doug Liman spent an additional day getting pick-up shots at Gallup in September.

That being said, early in the film when the iconic Peterborough water tower appears, its text digitally altered, looming above the humble houses on Kenneth Avenue just off Sherbrooke Street, there were a few audible cheers from the crowd. When Christiansen's character, David, makes his first "jump" through space, he lands smack dab and soaking wet in the middle of the Peterborough Public Library.
