Obituary

Born February 2, 1938 in St. Louis, MO, Robert S. Banks passed away on November 23, 2010 at the age of 72. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 32 years of service and from the Ann Arbor Recreation Department after 41 years where he taught art classes to many people in the community. Robert was a member of Al Ashraf Temple No. 167, Peninsular Consistory No. 44 and Saint Andrews Lodge No. 7. He is survived by his children, Steven (Kathy) of Minnesota, Robin Banks (Ludwig) of New York, Phillip (Allison) of Utah, Sharon Lane (Chris) of Lansing, Robert of Arizona, Nicole Shelton (Claude) of Belleville and Bryan of Ann Arbor. Stepchildren Angela Birdsong (Troy) of Inkster and Tony McFadden (Pam) of Detroit. two brothers and two sisters of St. Louis, MO. William (Carrie), Teddy Banks, Willette Clerkley (Richard) and Sandra Juenger. He has many Grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many close and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Ruth Banks and one brother Danny. He exemplified the role of a Servant by committing his time and energy to serve and bless the lives of many people. He will be greatly missed by his family and many people whose lives he touched. A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday December 1, 2010 at Bethel AME Methodist Church 900 John A Woods St., Ann Arbor.
