The Stage Stop Motel was located on Old US-23 in Ann Arbor at 2443 Carpenter Road. With a real stage coach out front, it was a civic landmark.

The motel was built in 1947 by Hugh Henshaw, who had earlier operated the Petoskey Motor Court in Petoskey, MI.

A postcard photo (undated) gives it 30 rooms and air conditioning.

It's gone now.

Just wnated to let you all know that I "stumbled" on to the OMI web site and enjoyed it. Brought back many memories. My Grandfather, Albert M. Henshaw, was head of the school until his death. My father, Hugh Henshaw, was on faculty teaching various subjects and directed the band from some time in the mid-1930's until 1947.
