Stapp Nature Area is an 8.11-acre natural area containing a mature oak-hickory forest. There is a small vernal pool with great frog, toad and salamander habitat. It is located between the Traverwood Branch of the Ann Arbor District Library and Tuebingen Park on the city's north-northeast side.
The nature area was named after William Stapp, who was a Professor of Environmental Education at the School of Natural Resources of the University of Michigan. Professor Stapp was internationally known for founding environmental education programs in 135 countries and for beginning the Global Rivers Environmental Education Network, which grew out of a project involving local students monitoring the Huron River.
