A community effort to address the challenges of peak oil (end of cheap oil), climate change, and economic instability, Transition Ann Arbor collaborated with local organizations to: Build resilience, Relocalize, Unleash the creative genius of our community as we transition to a low-energy future.  The group was active from 2009 through 2011.  

Transition Ann Arbor was laid down as an official initiative in October 2011.  As of spring 2019, its story and some information remained on its website. Several towns in Southeast Michigan have ongoing Transition Initiatives in various states of organization, including:
