Students, staff and faculty at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry maintain a Help Yourself Garden, which they started in 2014. It's located along the south edge of the Power Center by the parking lot that's north of the dental school.

From the Help Yourself Garden's website:

The garden is a place to relax, to escape the pressures of work and study, to learn about gardening and food, and to harvest vegetables for your own use.  There are work parties in spring and fall, and regular work days throughout the summer.  Or, enjoy the garden whenever you have a few minutes free!  (If you are unsure about what’s a weed, ask before pulling out plants.) Harvests will start by mid-July – please help yourself, being mindful not to hurt the plants.

In 2015, items in the garden included beans, tomatoes, peas, onions, squash and a variety of herbs, as well as sunflowers. The plot was organized into categories: "Vegetable Soup Garden," "Pizza Garden," "Curry Garden," "New England Boiled Dinner Garden," etc.
