Located in Alumni Memorial Hall at 525 South State Street across from the Michigan Union, this art museum houses the University's collections of African, American, Asian, European, and Middle Eastern art, plus modern drawings and paintings and photography.

The museum reopened in 2008 after a $41.9 million restoration and expansion. A temporary space at 1301 South University had housed UMMA Off/Site.
