Obituary

Johnson, Virgil Emery Ypsilanti, MI

Age 92, died Monday, April 5, 2010 at the Gilbert Residence in Ypsilanti. He was born January 25, 1918, in Cynthiana, Kentucky, one of 13 children born to Albert Lee and Nannie (Vanburn Forman) Johnson. Virgil has been an Ypsilanti area resident since 1946. He was the owner/operator of Virgil's Citgo City Service for many years and also owned Virgil and Jim's Christmas Trees in Ypsilanti. He was also a member of the VFW Post #2408. Survivors include three children Michael Emery Johnson, Valerie Johnson and Wanda (Jim)Black, all of Ypsilanti; step-son: George "Bud" Spangler of PA; nine grandchildren: Richard, Daniel, Darryll, Lance, Amelia, Bobbie Rae, Aimee, Crystal and Amanda; 22 great grandchildren; two sisters: Lillian LaFrana of Frankfort, KY and Ruby Isgrig of Paris, KY; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Albert Darrell Gregg. The funeral service will be Friday, April 9 at 1 p.m. at Janowiak Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Worrell of Graceway Baptist Church officiating. Burial will take place Monday, April 12, 2010 in Jacksonville Cemetery in Paris, KY. Contributions in his memory may be made to Graceway Baptist Church.
