Now these are not your father's (or mother's) lagers. That is, they are not flavorless, weak, yellow concoctions. Lager fermentation produces a cleaner, crisp flavor relative to the fruity flavors ale yeast can produce. Wolverine State's beers elegantly mix the delicious flavors of quality ingredients with the crispness of lager fermentation. If you are looking for a wonderful beer that blends a smooth malt flavor with a subtle kiss of hops, look no further than their Dark Lager, Winter Lager, or Drag me to Helles (a Maibock).

After passing a final city building inspection on Thursday, Wolverine State Brewing Co. is finally ready to open the doors of its tap room at 2019 W. Stadium. The partners were hoping for a Halloween opening, but because of a scheduling problem were delayed.

The owners of Wolverine State Brewing Co. had expected to be open at their new location on West Stadium Boulevard on Ann Arbor's West Side by now. Partners Matt Roy, Trevor Thrall, and E.T. Crowe signed the lease in January and at that time projected an April opening. But after financing and construction delays slowed progress, the partners now are setting their sights on a fall opening to coincide with the University of Michigan football season.

Roy said he and his two partners - E.T. Crowe and Trevor Thrall - sought space for over a year, touring several Ann Arbor properties with Dan Stewart of Michigan Commercial Realty before committing to the building on West Stadium, listed by Susan Moore of Colliers International.
