\n\tThe Patterson Memorial Medal did not originate in Saranac Lake, nor was it named for Dr. Robert C. Paterson of Saranac Lake. However, over the years, the medal has come to be associated with him and with the village. 1

\n\n\tSARANAC LAKE \u2014 The widely sought Patterson medal was brought back to Saranac Lake Monday after an absence of eight years. Local curlers won the trophy in an eight-team match. Saranac Lake has held the medal seven times, but lost it in 1932 and was unable to regain it until this year.

\n\n\tBeat Visiting Rinks and Capture Patterson Medal, Smith Cup
\n\n\tSARANAC LAKE, N. Y., Feb. 12 (AP)\u2014Curlers from Schenectady and the Caledonia Club of New York City fell today before two Saranac Lake rinks in the finals of the Patterson Medal and Tommy Smith Cup matches.
\n\n\tSaranac Lake No. 1 defeated Schenectady for the Patterson Medal, 19 to 9, and Saranac Lake No. 2 topped Caledonia, 22 to 6, for the Smith Cup.
\n\n\tSaranac Lake No. 1 was the defending champion for the Patterson Medal which, with the exception of two years, has been competed for continuously since 1922.
