About Plastic Services Group

Product Design & Development using many years of experience in industry, but with up to date and out of the box solutions for your new products. While Plastics Services Group is primarily working on Plastic Injection Molded Products, we have a great deal of experience in Plastic Profile Extrusion & Thermoforming (Vacuum Forming). Additional venues include Extruded Aluminum, Metal Stamping, Sheet Metal & Fasteners. New products advance through initial concepts and intermediate stages to rapid prototyping in just weeks.

Plastic Product Design & Development

Solid 3-D models are an imperative for production of injection molded components. Mechanical design software such as SolidWorks is great to use because of its worldwide popularity, precision and ease of use. Once models are constructed prototype stages are quickly completed using many different forms of rapid prototyping directly from the solid models. The models can then go directly into the tooling stage that will reflect the exact sizes and shapes designed into the solid model, or back to revise features deemed necessary. Methods for producing the final tooling are for example: EDM (electric discharge machining), automated CNC machining, laser and other methods, all performed directly from the model. It is very important that the development of the solid model involves a designer fully experienced with injection molding, because the model is everything. A cute solid industrial design can be costly without the benefit of a good plastics design. For many reasons, it is important to know the features that you can and cannot use for a specific design. Knowledge of materials and the manufacturing of those materials is crucial. Cost and manufacturability are key.
