Black Mountain Seed Library (Black Mountain)

105 Dougherty St, Black Mountain, NC
(828) 250 5746

  • The Black Mountain Library now has a seed lending library. Gardeners from anywhere in the county may come to the library and "borrow" vegetable seeds to plant. When using the seed library, gardeners agree to harvest seeds from their garden and return them to the library at the end of the growing season.
  • The purpose of the seed lending library is to provide local gardeners with seed stock that is well suited to the local climate and that has not been genetically altered. Due to limited quantities, seeds are available on a first come, first serve basis. Gardeners will need a library card to check out seeds, and any Buncombe county resident can get a free card at the library.
  • The Black Mountain Seed Library is made possible through donations from the Friends of the Black Mountain Library and Black Mountain Books. For more information, call 250-4756 or visit the library at 105 Dougherty Street in Black Mountain.
