#5 Chicken Shawarma Platter, served with hummus and feta salad ($5.49) Atcha Bakery is not a bakery. It's a dive with fantastically good and frighteningly inexpensive middle eastern food. The decorations and Friday afternoon prayer-service closure have a Muslim feel- this a more Lebanese than Greek restaurant, no matter what the guides say. Dusty middle eastern groceries are available. Order your schwarma, falafel sandwich, or pastries at the counter, then endure the worthwhile longish wait for your food. Try to ignore the tasteless fries on your plate; whatever else is on it usually compensates! LSU loves Atcha so much, there's a Facebook fan group even though the restaurant appears to have no webpage. A good bet is to go with the lunch special.

It is too a bakery: they make those awesome pastries like baklava. As far as 'Greek and Lebanese', I think that's just a strange classification that might in other places be called 'Middle Eastern'. If you're new or unsure of what you want, go up to the counter first to grab a menu and then get on line. The line can get really long around lunch, especially before the Friday 1:30pm temporary closure for prayer-service. Careful about the hours... sometimes they open late or close early. Best humus in Baton Rouge!
