The Garden District is a residential area of Baton Rouge with cute cottages, bungalows and historic mansions. Located south of Government Street and mostly east of Park Street, it is the city's oldest subdivision. Many streets have rows of beautiful oak trees in wide medians. Most renters wishing to live in the Garden District rent either a mother-in-law cottage on the property of a larger residence, or rent a room in a single-family residence.
