Clark Kerr CampusClark Kerr CampusClark Kerr Campus (sometimes also referred as Unit 5, or simply, "the Kerr")  is part of the University of California Berkeley residence hall system. It is located at 2601 Warring Street. Clark Kerr Campus is mainly a student housing for incoming freshmen, with several amenities such as sports and recreational facilities, Academic Service Center : Clark Kerr Campus and Reshall Peer Advisors : Clark Kerr Campus.

 

History

Clark Kerr Campus was constructed in the 1930s for formerly the California Schools for the Deaf and Blind. After the school relocated to Fremont, CA in 1980, University of California and the City of Berkeley competed to win over the land. The University eventually won the case in court and was entitled to the majority of the land. After renovation and conversion the residence hall was opened in 1983.

Clark Kerr Campus is named after Dr. Clark Kerr. Who served as University of California Berkeley's first Chancellor from 1952 to 1958, and later the president of University of California from 1958 to 1967.

Since 1981, Clark Kerr Campus has been recognized as a landmark by the City of Berkeley.

In 1982, Clark Kerr Campus was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. 

 

Residence Hall

Clark Kerr Campus is a Spanish mission-style residential complex for UC Berkeley students. It is located about 5 blocks away from the southeast corner of the main campus. Clark Kerr provides both residential dorm and suite accommodations in 12 different buildings (building 1 through 12). Both dorm rooms and suites are single gender with coed floors. Suites are composed of bedrooms, shared bathroom and a common area. Residential dorms shares a central bathroom on each floor. All rooms have carpeted floor and comes with extra long twin beds, dressers, desks, mirrors and closets.

 

Additional Features

Academic Service Center : Provides students with academic support services and necessary resources for a successful academic life at Cal. Includes: tutoring, academic advising and interactions with faculty lives in Clark Kerr Campus. Hours: MON-FRI 7:30 AM - 9:30 AM, 3:00PM - 1:00 AM; SAT closed; SUN 3:00PM - 1:00AM

Reshall Peer Advisors :  Offers peer tutoring in Chemistry, Math, Physics and Writing. Including :

  1. Workshops on writing lab reports.
  2. Mini-sessions to review mathematical concepts.
  3. Help to brainstorming thesis topics.
  4. Review of kinematics, forces, work/energy.

Clark Kerr Campus Dinning Hall : serves a variety of culinary foods for breakfast and dinner on all weekdays. On weekends serves brunch and dinner. No lunch services. 

 

Sports and Recreational facilities

Golden Bear Track and Field

Golden Bear Pool

Golden Bear Pool : Outdoor pool with 6 lanes. 25 yard in length. Heated to 80º-81º F. Includes locker rooms, hot showers and lockers.

Golden Bear Track and Field : Dirt running track with no lane marks. Quarter mile in length. Surrounded by the track is a natural grass field without field lights.

Golden Bear Tennis Courts : Two Hard courts with lights for night play.

Clark Kerr Sand Courts : Sand Court with volley ball nets

 

Clark Kerr Campus summer conference

Summer conference meeting space can accommodates 20 to 300 people group with ability to host and board 700 people.
