The Coffee Hound is located in Downtown Bloomington off Monroe Street and offers excellent coffee as well as smoothies, different types of tea and delicious pastries. It also has Free-Wi-Fi, which makes it a great place to study and relax while enjoying a beverage. They offer different specials year-round as well as different types of coffee from around the world.

2011-09-30 22:33:35   The Coffee Hound in downtown Bloomington is a great place to go! The atmosphere is really laid back and the location is perfect for people watching. All the baristas are super nice and make the best drinks. I don't feel like I'm being herded to the register and rushed out the door. The prices are also way better which is nice on a student's wallet. The place in Bloomington seems a lot bigger than any Starbucks in town or the Coffee Hound in normal so you don't get that feeling like your sitting on someone's lap or looking over your neighbors shoulder. —GingerWebb

2011-09-30 22:35:26   Warning coffee so good you may not like any other coffee again. Now lets see, is that a coffee half full or half empty statement? I'll say it's half full and flowing with rich, flavorful, artistic design in every cup. But the art doesn’t stop in the cup, it continues on the walls where various artists have their pieces on display. The Coffee Hound also has art events where live musicians perform and art is auctioned for the local Mulberry School. Go to coffeehound.net to find out more details on their events. The Coffee Hound roasts it’s own coffee everyday in its Downtown Bloomington location. They bake their bakery delights every morning at 4:00. Their coffee even comes from a private family owned farm. The Coffee Hound is by far the best coffee shop(s) in Bloomington-Normal.  It's not just the locations and atmosphere (which are great), it's because they truly invest in the education and growth of coffee in their shop.  They want to truly create the best drinks and are on a higher level then the other shops in town.  Anyone who works on the espresso machines have gone through training and started from the bottom (register work), all the way to making the correct shot of espresso.  Most places like Starbucks are the Wal-Mart's of coffee and shouldn't even be considered in the same breath as places like the Coffee Hound.  It's no different than comparing McDonald's to Destihl.  The atmosphere is really calm as well.  The place has a great energy, yet remains still enough to get actual work done.  I highly recommend any coffee lover to give the shop a try.  Also, go for something like the house Cortado or a double espresso instead of a sweet sugary drink, it's only then when you will feel the difference.
