Lake Bloomington is a popular place for fishing, boating, kayaking among other things. It is not located in Bloomington Normal but is fifteen miles north (close to a town called Hudson). People live around the some parts of the lake. There is also a very good, but small restaurant called Green Gables. Their most popular items on the menu are hamburgers and fries which are some of the best. Around some parts of the lake there is hiking along the Mackinaw river, where trails are kept very nice and the view is amazing.
There are many places on Lake Bloomington that are open to exploring and adventure. Lake Bloomington is a great place for long walks and becoming one with nature. It has a huge surrounding area so there is lots to see. It is in the spring and fall is when the area seems to be the most beautiful. With the land changing colors and forming new plants it’s a great time to grill out with family and friends. There are a lot of zones where you can hangout at and grill or even play at the park. Also Lake Bloomington is far enough away from the city lights that the area is perfect for stargazing. On some nights you can even see the breathtaking Milky Way galaxy.
If you're big into fishing, then this is a great place to go. The lake is stocked with lost of fish. These fish are Walleye, Crappie, Muskie, Northern Pike, Bluegill, and a few different species of bass. You must have a fishing license, if you're over the age of 16. These usually cost about 15 dollars, but it is well worth the fine that you'll receive if you're caught without one. It is a very big lake, with some very big fish. A beautiful atmosphere and a very clean lake. Although there are a lot of houses around the lake, so this place can become crowded. If you're looking for a great place to fish, then this is a good spot to check out.
Lake Bloomington is definitely a family friendly place to visit and great place to relax.
While at Lake Bloomington there are a few rules that need to be known. There is a forty horse power motor size limit on the lake. To have a watercraft vehicle on Lake Bloomington you need to have a water craft registration. There are several places that are no wake zones. If a person does not obey these zones they can expect to be handed a ticket from the lake patrol. On a water craft some items needed to be legal are a fire extinguisher, a floating through able, and if needed an Illinois boater safety card.
