Lincoln's Courthouse

Lincoln Illinois is a small town in central Illinois. It has a population of a little more than 15000 people. Lincoln is a very peaceful and calm town for the most part, doesn't have much huge crimes happen.  Everything in the town is fairly old not much new places. Lincoln hosts the Logan County fair, and the balloon and art festival. It seems to be a nice place to settle down in. You would think that a little over 15000 people wouldn't be considered a small town but if anything really bad or good happens in the town pretty much everyone in town knows about it. It's a very supportive town and a good community overall.

History

In 1852 Logan County was popular for the easy access to the creeks like Kickapoo, salt, and sugar creek. Lincoln was right in the middle of Logan and back then when the were making the main railroad to connect Bloomington and Springfeild which is sixty miles apart the law was you need a water post every 30 miles so they made a stop at Lincoln which made people start migrating to Lincoln. Lincoln was designed around the railroad so all roads were either parallel or straight across of the railroad. Lincoln was and will always be the first town named after Abe Lincoln before he was even president. On August 27, 1853 the business men who bought all the land for Lincoln started selling it that day and about 90 lots of their land was sold that day and was the beginning of Lincoln Illinois.
