The McLean County Museum of History goes all the way back to the year of 1892, and this was the year that the McLean County Historical Society began.

The original museum was first opened in 1904. And it was opened by the Historical Society members when they had finally collected enough materials, which were in the form of presented papers, donated objects, etc. So then when that was accomplished they opened the museum to the public in order for the members to share their collection with the public.

One of the major reasons for this museum is to educate the public through exhibits and objects. This museum is also used to develop educational programs for those that are part of our community and institutions that are a part of community as well.
