ANSER is an award-winning public charter school that embraces the pedagogy of expeditionary learning. ANSER's collaborative program considers students' academic, emotional, physical, and social needs in a cooperative and supportive environment.

The Independent School District of Boise approved ANSER's petition for a charter in September of 1998. ANSER first opened its doors to 112 students in September of 1999 in a former downtown Boise office building. ANSER then shared space with Bronco Elite at its former location on River Street. The school moved to its current location in September 2009. For the 2009-2010 school year, 324 students are enrolled in grades K-8.

Enrollment

Each year ANSER has a limited number of openings for new students. State law requires the school to first offer available slots to current ANSER students and siblings of current students. Additional openings are filled using a random lottery. The school holds an (extremely competitive) annual lottery where names are randomly drawn, then placed in order on a waiting list.

ANSER’s annual lottery is held on the third Thursday of February at 1:00 PM and is for students entering kindergarten through 8th grade. Applications for the lottery are accepted from January 1st of each year until 24 hours prior to the lottery. Offers of enrollment for the next school year are made following the lottery.
