The Logan House, originally located near 6th and Grove, was built in 1865 and owned by Mayor Thomas E. Logan and his family. It was one of many buildings in early Boise were constructed with this type of adobe, a sun-dried brick. The Logan House is a small, one-story building, typical of adobe construction. Unfortunately, these bricks were easily damaged by moisture, and all but this one crumbled or were torn down. The Logans applied a red oil-based paint to help prevent this problem. In 1971, after 106 years at its original location, the Logan House was moved to Julia Davis Park restored by the Friends of the Museum and added to the National Register of Historic Places.
