The museum serves the general public, as well as providing educational opportunities for schools. School tours are provided and educational programs are tailored to be grade and subject matter specific. Some guest speakers include veterans that discuss their experiences during World War II. The museum also collaborates with the Library of Congress on its Veterans History Project, and is working to record the oral histories of as many veterans as possible. The museum uses volunteers to record oral histories, and they are often looking for volunteers from the community. Their website also provides a virtual tour, calendar of events, and an abundance of images on Flickr.

The museum itself has a vast collection of uniforms, weapons, posters, and various articles from World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and the Cold War era. The museum also includes several planes for visitors to admire.
