The fairgrounds at Glenwood and Chinden became third location of the Western Idaho Fair (originally called founded as the Idaho Intermountain Fair in 1897) in 1967. The fair had been located at Fairview and Orchard from 1902 to 1966. Before becoming the Western Idaho Fairgrounds, the land at Glenwood and Chinden had been the Kent homestead, featuring a granary, barn and house. The Exposition Building was constructed in 1967, and the Les Bois Park horseracing track was built in 1968. The fairgrounds and the racetrack have featured concerts since 1971 when Boise act Paul Revere & The Raiders performed for fairgoers.

Artists who have performed at the Western Idaho Fair include Pat Benatar, Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, Chicago, The Everly Brothers, Brenda Lee, Barbara Mandrell, Reba McEntire, Roger Miller, Rick Nelson, Willie Nelson and The Temptations.

The concert lineup for 2011 includes Kool & The Gang, Cheap Trick, Eric Church and Craig Morgan.
