Although most museums have only limited information in English, almost all will offer group tours in English. Usually there is a fee of about 100 euros, but if you can find enough people to join you, it is reasonable, and definitely worth it! Some do have audio-tours in English.

Museums are usually closed on Mondays, unless a holiday falls on a Monday, but most are also closed for Christmas, New Year's and Rosenmontag so it is best to check their websites if you plan to go on a holiday.
 

Museum Mile/Museumsmeile

This is a stretch off the main road south of Bonn with the main museums of Bonn.
 

• Modern Art (Kunstmuseum)

  • Located on the 'Museumsmeile', it has permanent and rotating exhibits.

• Art and Exhibition Hall/Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland

  • This hall hosts world class exhibits and is located next to the art museum.
     

• Modern German History Museum/Haus der Geschichte

  • An interactive museum filled with objects telling the story of Germany since WWII. Audio guides and group tours available in English, but the web site and exhibits are all in German. FREE!
     

• Natural History Museum/Museum Koenig

  • Stuffed animals from around the world, an igloo you can take apart and climb into, live snakes and lizards, etc - perfect for a rainy afternoon with the kids!

Being the former capital, Bonn also boasts of several museums outside of the Museumsmeile
 

German Museum/Deutsches Museum

• For fans of science and technology the milestones of German research discoveries during the last 50 years are on exhibit here. Warning - it is highly technical and almost completely in German.
   

Rheinisches Landesmuseum

• This museum strives to show the history of the local area from prehistory to modern times. They often have interesting temporary exhibits. Website and exhibits all in German.
   

Arithmeum

• A museum dedicated to math.
