Panorama at the Peak - A Local Foods Restaurant  located on the north face of Cacapon Mountain in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. 

General About the Organization/Mission

Panorama at the Peak offers seasonal fare with an emphasis on sustainable and local production practices. The restaurant owners  source  their ingredients within our local and  regional food system, and most of their food is reported to come from within a 65 mile radius of the restaurant, including Ayrshire, Border Springs, Blue Mountain, Butlers, Critten Creek, Crestview Meats, Earth Cookie, Mocks Greenhouse, PennyPinch,  , , Potomac Higlands Vineyard, craft brewers include Mountain Man Brewing, craft distillers: Bloomery Plantation Distillery, Black Dog Coffeeupplies the coffee. The menu is changes at least a bit  weekly.  Vvegetaran, vegan, and gluten-free options always on the menu and available. The restaurant is open for brunch, lunch and dinner  Thursday through Sunday.

Panorama Overlook part of the Property (across from the restaurant),  was named by National Geographic as “one of America’s great beauty spots” and offers diners beautiful views of the Potomac and Great Cacapon River Valley, as well as mountains located in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. The view also encapsulates the local transportation history, as it shows the historic C&O Canal on the Maryland side of the river and the B&O Railroad on the West Virginia side. The much celebrated view is also a stop on the George Washington Heritage Trail and the Civil War Trail.

History of Organization

The restaurant was founded in August 2005 by domestic partners Leslie Hotaling and Patti Miller with a deep commitment to help rebuild regional food systems.  The restaurant is listed on West Virginia’s 101 Unique Places to dine, it was recognized by Bon Appetit Appalachia as “one of the region’s most distinctive local food destinations”.  Awards include Snail of Approval awards from Slow Food DC since it's inception. It was also awarded by 5 Year Excellence Award from the travel website Trip Advisor. Panorama's certifications include Humane Farm Animal Care and A Place of Hospitality.
