Buffalonian may be a noun referring to
- a native, resident, or wannabe of Buffalo, NY
- the sub-dialect of English spoken in the Buffalo area.
OR it may be an adjective describing something as:
Resident
"The word to describe people from Buffalo, NY. All people from Buffalo refer to themselves as Buffalonians, whether or not Buffaloite is the correct definition. If you're not from Buffalo, then you probably don't know that the only correct term is Buffalonian." 1
Many refer to themselves as Buffalonians, former Buffalonians, or maybe even future Buffalonians. The discussion about who qualifies begins immediately by birth, length of time, geography, etc. Perhaps there are native Buffalonians (they were born there), resident Buffalonians (they actually live there now), working Buffalonians (they work there) and wannabe Buffalonians (missing some critical qualification). Folks who live in the city probably look down on suburbanites who claim Buffalonianship - and are indignant when exurbians make any such claims.
