Erie County

WikiMedia Image Erie County, named after Lake Erie (from the Erie tribe of Indians), is a county within New York State located at the western end of the state. Erie County contains the city of Buffalo, the county seat, and is part of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls MSA.

Erie County was founded in 1821, covers 1,227 square miles, and had a 2000 population of 920,265.
