History

Owners Jason Wulf and Erik Bernardi opened Lake Effect Ice Cream in 2007, after discovering their hobby of creating ice cream. It started as a friendly neighborhood competition between the two best friends and turned it into an award-winning business.

The two life long best-friends started out only with a few flavors one of which being Salty Caramel, a flavor that has helped them win many awards for best ice cream over the years.

Over the years the two of them, with some help, have been able to come up with some crazy good flavors and sundaes. From your classic vanilla, which they call "Silver Cloud Vanilla" to "Paulas Glazed Doughnut" Lake Effect Ice Cream has just about any flavor you can come up with. If you ask their employees what their favorite flavors are most of them would say something like Peanut Butter Epiphany, Frozen Hot Chocolate, London Fog or Revolution Coffee.

On top of the 25+ flavors that are on the menu there are also about 10 Artisan Sundaes on the menu as well. Two of the top sundaes are the El Guapo and Toasted S'More.

Other menu items include popsicles, ice cream cakes, ice cream sandwiches, milkshakes, floats, and pup cups (yes those are for dogs).

For anyone who is visiting either shop for the first time the owners and staff would recommend getting a Flight of Five or Nine. With that you would get five or nine golf ball size scoops of the flavors of your choice, all smaller scoops than normal so you can try multiple and decide which one would be your favorite.
