Race for the Cure, also known as the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is a global, annual, fitness walk and run to raise funds for Breast Cancer. The Western NY Affiliate race is held in June each year. The Race for the Cure is the largest series of 5k walks/runs in the world, over 100 cities and foreign countries have participated. Since 2005, well over one million people have joined.
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer foundation was founded in 1982 by Nancy Goodman Brinker, Susan Goodman Komen's sister. Right before Komen's battle with breast cancer ended, Brinker made a promise to Komen she would do whatever it takes to speed up breast cancer research, and Buffalo is one of more than 120 cities worldwide to participate in the Race for the Cure

2010 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure - June 12th
2010 marks the 27th year anniversary for the Race for the Cure fitness walks and runs.
2010 also marks the 10th annual Race for the Cure in the WNY area. Honoring the 10th year, the Susan G. Komen foundation introduces "The Power of 10", which suggests asking 10 friends for $10. If everyone participates, soon, over $1 million can be raised!
