The airport is a reliever of LAX and supports several general aviation activities. The property previously served as the Oxnard Air Force Base from 1951 to 1970. The triangular cement walls you can see from Las Posas Road used to be bookends for giant piles of soil. Soil was also heaped up on top of storage buildings. The idea was to make it difficult to distinguish storage buildings from dirt piles from the air to prevent air attacks in WWII.
