Boshamer Stadium is the home of the North Carolina baseball team, and is located on Ridge Road in the middle of the UNC-Chapel Hill campus.

History

The UNC baseball team moved from its old stomping grounds of Emerson Field to a new site on Ridge Road in the late 1960s. Boshamer Stadium officially opened on March 21, 1972.

From 1972 to 2007, the Tar Heels played all of their home games in"The Bosh". The stadium hosted five ACC Tournaments during the stretch — in 1973, 1975, 1981-83.

After the 2007 season, a renovation project began, forcing the team to play its 2008 campaign at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. When the stadium reopened on February 2, 2009, the field was renamed Bryson Field after two long-time supporters of the program. The outside courtyard was renamed after the Steinbrenner family because of a $1 million donation by New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner. Steinbrenner's daughter graduated from UNC in 1981.

Since reopening in 2009, Boshamer Stadium has hosted three NCAA regionals (2009, 2011-12) and two super regionals (2009 and 2011)
