Audubon Acres is Chattanooga's oldest nature sanctuary and was founded by writer and naturalist Robert Sparks Walker. It is located on Sanctuary Road in East Brainerd.

The sanctuary is owned by the Chattanooga Audubon Society, which owns two other sanctuaries, They own Audubon Island, located in the Tennessee River, underneath the Veterans's Bridge and Audubon Mountain in the northern part of Hamilton County,

These sanctuaries preserve green space in a growing urban area.
