How to Suggest a Bike Route

If you're interested in learning how to use ChaWiki, use the below instructions to add your bike routes (and get some Wiki skills in the process!). If you just want to add your route then be done with it, edit one of our blank bike route suggestion pages.

  1. Find the general area where the route you want to suggest is in on a site like Google Maps
  2. Find the intersection where your route begins. 
  3. Find the intersection where your route ends. 
  4. Type the name of your route below using the following convention BRS:fromintersectionTOtointersection (ex: "BRS:Central@14thTODodds@14th")
  5. Click "Search or create page"
  6. Create a page using the BikeRouteSuggestion Template
  7. Name your route 
  8. Type the two cross-streets for the beginning intersection in the "FROM" fields
  9. Type the two cross-streets for the ending intersection in the "TO" fields
  10. Choose your preferred bike route facility type for the route
  11. Give a brief description about why your route is needed and why you chose the preferred facility type for this route.
  12. Draw your route using the Map tool. Instructions on Mapping here
  13. Make sure to add the tag "bike route suggestion" to your page.
  14. Save changes

How to Comment on Routes

  1. click "Edit page" for the bike route you want comment on
  2. add a bullet point below the "Discussion" section
  3. add your chawiki username in italics followed by a colon:
  4. add your comment after your username
