Tim Kinsella is a multidisciplinary artist (and sometimes Rainbo bartender) born in Chicago in the 1970s. A member of bands including Cap'n Jazz, Joan of Arc, Owls, and Make Believe, Kinsella also directed the feature film Orchard Vale and published two novels, The Karaoke Singer's Guide to Self-Defense (featherproobooks), and Let Go and Go On and On (Curbside Splendor). While only some of these projects involve words on paper, all involve a strong narrative (sometimes linear, sometimes not), elegantly tough characters, and different kinds of real struggle and stress. Kinsella often works in sets, editions, and with themes. Currently he is Publisher at featherproobooks, which was co-founded by Zach Dodson and Jonathan Messinger, and collaborates regularly and significantly with the performance group Every house has a door.
