It was designed by R.H. Allen in Greek Revival style and constructed circa 1861-2. It is the oldest house still standing in Chico. It was listed on the Register of Historic Places on April 13, 1977 with ID Number 77000288.

Helen Sommer Gage had a daughter, Sybil Gage, I believe thats how its spelled, Who called my aunts, Helen Spears, Alta Wise and my cousin Linda Wise, to chico just after my grandmother Lillian Sherman died. She during this meeting revealed that she was my grandmothers biological mother. I just found out about this from my cousin, since I live in Kansas City Missouri, Which would make Helen Sommer Gage my great great grandmother. I would like to find out some family medical history at my Doctors request.  Ted W. Harrison
