Chico's own Bird in Hand

Bird in Hand in Downtown Chico is chock full of neat gifts ranging from eclectic cook books, clothes, cards, yo-yos, and more. There is a huge selection of toys for kids of all ages, many of which are not just for fun, but are educational as well. Some of the toys have examples out of the package so the customer can try them out before buying. They have tons of board games and stuffed animals among the toys.

They have a yo-yo museum in the rear of the store which houses the world's largest yo-yo. In addition to tons of yo-yos on display at the museum, there are pictures on display and a lot of information. And if you find yourself interested in yo-yos as a result, the store has tons of models for sale, ranging from very affordable up to very expensive professional ones. Need a little helping choosing the right yo-yo then this is the place to go. Several of the staff are experts and willing demonstrate, answer questions and provide tips on technique.

The Bird and Hand was the birthplace of the first yo-yo club in 1988 — the Chico Yo-Yo Club. To this day they host the popular annual National Yo-Yo Contest.

2008-05-05 00:12:00   Great place to kill some time on a lazy afternoon. Some other fine items of random interest include led light of flying discs, wiffle ball sets and assorted animal puppets. —AlexMandel
