Chico Police Department

The Chico Police Department, operated by the City of Chico, is charged with protecting and upholding the public health, welfare, safety and morals. The Chief of Police is Michael O'Brien

According to the Chico Police Department's official history, the roots of our present day 157 member law enforcement staff date to the town Marshall's office, established in 1872. In 1910, the department was reorganized into the Chico Police Department and was housed at the Old Municipal Building. When did they move to the Humboldt location? Their website includes a weekly police department report, and a weekly arrests log (so you can find out what happened at a certain location), and other useful statistics.

The CPD sponsors several community programs, including the Chico Police Explorers link, the Volunteers in Police Service link, and the Citizen's Academy link. There is a Citizens Advisory Board which generally meets monthly at the Chico Police Station.
