Emily Azevedo is a Chico native who went on to be part of the United States bobsled team "USA-3" in the 2010 Winter Olympics as a brakewoman where she and her teammate Bree Schaaf finished 5th. She started bobsled in 2006, and was brakewoman for the World Cup and World Championship competitions before her she represented the US at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
During her college years at UC Davis, she was active on their track and field team. She set the UC Davis record for the 100-meter hurdles, which currently ranks second with her time of 14.23 seconds. She is on the school's indoor top-five charts for the 60-meter dash and 60-meter hurdles.
