The Greenline is a geographical feature around the western and southern extremities of town. It is a cultural boundary that prevents the city from expanding outward into the Sacramento Valley's valuable farmlands without critical consideration. Butte County also has had involvement in this greenline.

The Chico Greenline Coalition advocates for the greenline and has a website with a map of its boundaries courtesy of Butte County.
