Grilla Bites cooks up a variety of meals that are healthy and are, quite often, prepared with organic and local ingredients. They are part of the Slow Food movement. Many menu items are vegetarian and they can be turned vegan upon request. In fact, some menu items are vegan, such as their lentil soup, vegan burger (specifically ask for it), and their Potato Zen Bowl. Their Zen Bowls are prepared fresh daily and are ready after 5pm. Grilla Bites also offer selections with meat such as their pastrami on rye and Thai tuna sandwiches. You can also enjoy their fresh organic salad bar.

As for beverages, they have a wide selection to choose from, including coffee, tea, alcoholic beverages, and even water that has undergone reverse osmosis (free for patrons).

The restaurants are open on weekdays for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

In early 2008, Grilla Bites closed its original Downtown W. 2nd St. location where Chronic Tacos then set up shop in March-April 2008. This is the same building with the portrait of Annie and John Bidwell. According to their website, a location in Central Chico is coming soon near In Motion Fitness.

2008-02-23 18:58:17   Grilla Bites has pretty good food, but as a student, it's super hard for me to fork over $7 or more for meals that don't sate my appetite. I recommend their combo specials when they're available — soup plus half a sandwich and perhaps some organic purple tortilla chips. They're relatively inexpensive but still not as filling as, say, something from Kona's. The downtown location has really strange hours. I've found them closed down at the oddest times over the last summer. I'd love to know the reasons behind that. —RyanMikulovsky

  • Thanks for the update! I'm changing the page the reflect that change. —StaceyEllis

2008-03-12 22:26:53   I thnk Grilla Bites is already open at that location near In Motion Fitness. That's the Cohasset address above. But I'm not sure, since I've never been. —RyanMikulovsky

  • The Cohasset address refers to the location on the stretch of Cohasset that runs between the Cohasset/Mangrove split (by the freeway) and the Esplanade. Anything by In Motion Fitness would be either on East First Avenue or Longfellow Avenue, not sure which, since the streets split there. —StaceyEllis

2010-07-18 00:11:21   I have to agree with Ryan - it's neat to have an organic salad bar, but the prices are prohibitive. —ChiaraBrown
