The H1N1 Flu, or more commonly known as the misnomer "swine flu", outbreak of 2009 has already struck in Sacramento. The World Health Organization has raised their pandemic level to five, as of April 29, 2009. The illness has caused all schools, universities, and public events in Mexico to be closed until May 6, and the spread of the flu in the United States is causing increasing amounts of schools to close.
Anybody who remembers the local response to the 1976 outbreak is encouraged to edit this entry with their knowledge.
On May 19, 2009 a probable case of Swine Flu was publicly reported in Butte County. In a pinch, remember these common sense guidelines:

Wash your hands with soap, and scrub for at least 20 seconds. A quick Birthday song is a good washing length.

Wash your hands before eating or touching your face!

Use a tissue to cover your mouth when coughing or if you must, cough into your shirtsleeve, not your hands. Throw any tissues away.

Steer clear of others who are sick. If you do get sick, stay home until you feel better.
