What do you know about Hubbard's Westside Gardens?

Herb Hubbard was the owner of HWG.  The address was 412 W. 6th. Avenue and the store's motto was: "All the best and nothing else". His mother lived in Paradise and Herb and his wife lived on White Avenue with their two daughters.  I began working at Hubbard's in the summer of 1960 at the age of 14 and worked there until I graduated from high school in 1966.

Beside Herb, some of the main people who worked there during my stay was Arvid "Carl" Carlson, Flossie Henson, Bob Orput, Walt Clark and Dick Guffy.  There were others, but I remember these the most.

Well respected and knowledgeable, Herb was also a rock hound and a veteran of world war II.  He would tell us stories of his war experiences during our many coffee breaks.

Till today, I remember many of the things Herb taught me and of the wonderful times being part of that era.
