Mountain Sports is the only place downtown to buy outdoor gear for camping, hiking, snow sports, climbing, and more. They have a wide variety of backcountry packs and smaller ones for day hikes or classes. Mountain Sports also has a variety of maps and literature for local areas and around California. They offer money-back guarantees on certain equipment providing there is no wear and are returned within a few days. This can be quite beneficial when finding the right hiking boot as sometimes comfort isn't immediately obvious just walking around the store. They provide hiking socks to ensure fit if you didn't bring your own and a ramp to test for slippage (watch your toes!).
