The Palm Avenue Bridge was constructed to connect Chico with the Richardson Springs Road (also known as Cohasset Road) in 1917.  It was only .4 miles upstream from the oldest bridge crossing Lindo Channel at the Esplanade. The intent of the bridge was to connect the Chico Cemetery Road with the Richardson Springs (Cohasset) Road. The bridge was presumably dismantled in the late 50s or early 60s when the planned freeway made a bridge at Mangrove Avenue more practical. The actual location of the Palm Avenue Bridge was not at the very end of Palm Avenue  but rather between Palm Avenue and Mangrove Avenue.
