Pastels on the Plaza is a downtown family event sponsored by the Chico Area Recreation District. Novice and professional artists get an opportunity to express themselves with chalk on a sidewalk square in City Plaza. Squares may be purchased by anyone who wants to participate. Novice individuals, families and organizations may purchase a 4 foot square for $20. Professional artists are encouraged to apply for an 8 foot square on "Fine Art Alley" which are sponsored by a local business.
Applications to participate can be found online at http://www.chicorec.com or at the CARD office at 545 Vallombrosa. All chalk is provided. Any outside chalk must explicitly state that it is "lead free" if it is to be permitted.
The last Pastels on the Plaza occurred on Saturday September 20, 2008 from 9a.m.-2p.m.
