Pluto's is a San Francisco based chain of restaurants with locations throughout Northern California, including one in downtown Chico. They offer a wide range of food including salads, sandwiches, and sides. There are meat options as well as vegetarian choices, depending on your preference.

The layout can be a little confusing to the first time visitor. Upon entering, grab a menu card. This will stay with you until you pay at the register. With card in hand, go to the appropriate "station" (salad, sandwich, etc.) to order. They will prepare it fresh for you right then. For instance, the salad comes with a choice of dressings and add-ins, so they will toss it for you according to your specifications. Your card will be punched by the cook, and you take it to the cashier to pay for the meal. It has a bit of a cafeteria feel in some ways, as you are herded through lines and yell over glass at someone putting the appropriate food on your plate. However, the food is much tastier than cafeteria fare. and that kid in the glasses is cute.

To anyone familiar with the Sacramento area, this place is often compared to Jack's Urban Eats in terms of type of food and service.

2010-07-18 00:10:14   I've never found anything but food in my food at Pluto's. They are a good choice for people who are trying to eat healthy, since you can get a salad with a lean meat in decent portions. —ChiaraBrown
