Silver Dollar Fair Sign The Silver Dollar Fair is an annual event that takes place every Memorial Day weekend at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. The fair begins on the Wednesday before the holiday weekend, and continues through the Monday holiday. In the past, local schools actually gave kids a shortened day on the first day of the fair with the assumption that everyone would be attending. This is, of course, no longer the case.

Your typical fair experiences are to be expected at the Silver Dollar Fair. There are rides (from the tame ferris  wheel up to the crazy upside-down spinning rides), fried foods on a stick, carnival games, exhibitions, animal showing and auctions, concerts, auto races, rodeo, and more. There is an admission fee to get in the gate, which covers the cost of entrance to the exhibitions, animal barns, and some concerts. The carnival games, rides, and food will obviously be an additional expense. There is a choice between buying separate ride tickets or a "pay one price" wristband for the day. You also

2009-04-28 20:29:01   Can you tell me how much the wristbands are??? Im going there on Friday and I need to know! —4.246.219.228

  • Hmmm... I just hunted around their website and found this information which seems to make me think that it's $22. I don't know if that's in addition to the admission prices or if admission is included. Hope that helps. Chico Wiki is a community-edited website, not the official website for the fairgrounds, but I like to help where I can. —StaceyEllis

2009-05-12 23:23:08   I've been unable to locate actual price of admission to fair on these websites for Sprint car race/Civil War series for Sunday, May 25th, 2009. Anyone have a definitive source online for actual price, I find it strange to say the least. —69.109.160.207

  • Can't be "definitive" since I don't work for the Silver Dollar Fair, but I poked around their website some more and found this which suggests to me that "Silver Dollar Fair Races" (are those the races that happen during the fair?) cost "Fair Admission." If that's the case, you can find the information about fair admission prices here. Like I said, I don't actually know anything about this beyond what I've found on their website, but the Silver Dollar Speedway does have contact information here on their website, so you might want to give them a call or send them an email for an actually definitive answer. Like I said in the comment above, Chico Wiki is a community-edited website, so we are not actually associated with the Silver Dollar fair (or the hundreds of other Chico related entities we have articles about), just a bunch of people who like to help inform other Chicoans. —StaceyEllis

2009-05-13 07:53:38   My only wish is that the SDF wouldn't be the week before or during finals. This is why I'll never be able to write about it and add photos. Hope someone can fill us in (because it seems like the official website isn't very useful...)! —RyanMikulovsky
