The Paul L. Byrne Memorial Agricultural Teaching and Research Center (more commonly known as the University Farm) is a research center for agriculture which is apart from and about five mile south of the main Chico State campus. The center is located on approximately 800 off of Hegan Lane acres which was originally the Navarra-Hengst Ranch and was established in this location in 1960. In 1963, the center was named for Senator Paul L. Byrne, a Chico State alumnus, who led the effort to get funding to acquire the land. The farm has barns, silos, greenhouses and many other facilities.
